HOW IT WORKS

  • The Wait List is open to those that were unable to book a program or could not book an appropriate date.
  • Note: Dates that become available will be given to those on the wait list in priority sequence (which includes date joined by the teacher as well as school location, demographics and other characteristics).

HOW TO JOIN

Please e-mail YouthLink's School Program Manager (schoolprograms@youthlinkcalgary.com) the following information:
1. Booking teacher first and last name.
2. Booking teacher email address and phone number.
3. The number of individual grade 6 classes you would like to book.
4. The total number of grade 6 students in all classes.
5. The YouthLink School Program Manager will contact you if a space becomes available for your class.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Embark on a learning adventure with the Calgary Police Service! An experience built with the knowledge of real-world experts and facilitated by our engaging team.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • State-of-the-art Police Museum (immersive police exhibits and experimental Forensics Lab).
  • Clear and engaging lesson plans (covers the Gr. 6 Evidence and Investigation Unit).
  • Real Intel and hands-on forensics fun.
  • A life-like crime investigation with puzzling clues and team challenges.
  • Powerful crime prevention and safety presentations (on drugs, gangs, online safety, healthy relationships and bullying) .

CLASS CRITERIA

  • Grade 6 or 5/6 classes only.
  • School must be located within Calgary city limits.

PROGRAM INCLUDES

One full day visit to the YouthLink the Calgary Police Interpretive Centre.
- Half day Forensic Files (evidence exploration and police education) Learn More.
- Half day Street Smart (Crime Prevention Presentations) Learn More.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Ensure you know the following information before applying:
- Registration for this program opens August 28th, 2017. This program is popular and books up quickly.
- Number of classes you would like to book: one Lead teacher may book up to 10 classes within a single application.
- A list of preferred dates that you would like to visit.
- Email addresses of each class teacher and their name or class identifier (example: 6a, 6b, etc).
- Information about your class or students regarding exceptionalities, special needs, behaviour, trauma, challenges and pressures.

PROGRAM COST

This program is proudly funded by the Calgary Police Foundation as well as many important local donors and partners (Learn More about our partners). Together, we support a safe Calgary.
- There is no charge for this program – it’s FREE thanks to our generous partners.
- Includes a complete program with easy-to-follow pre and post lesson plans (covering the Gr. 6 Evidence and Investigation Unit). Following our lesson plans is not mandatory but is highly recommended for your student’s best learning experience.
- Does not include transportation (must be arranged by your school).
